Description: The most common method for a customer to communicate quality requirements to a supplier is through the use of a capability index. Cp/Cpk and Pp/Ppk are the indices most commonly used. These indices compare the product specification, known as the “Voice of the Customer”, to the process width, known as the “Voice of the Process”. It is commonly said that we are to use Cp and Cpk to represent “short term” variation and Pp and Ppk to represent “long term” variation. Although this definition seems simple enough, there is considerable confusion in the industry regarding how these two sets of indices differ and precisely when to use one versus the other. Attendees will not only learn the mathematical difference between these two sets of metrics, but they will also gain a practical understanding of when to use each and how to interpret the difference. The Pp and Ppk provide the overall process capability overview or long-term process capability. It shows the exact process capability at current. Difference Between Cp and Cpk. Cp and Cpk both give the process capability, while Cp talks about the data spread and width of the data range, the Cpk talks about the data points near to mean. The drawbacks of Cp are remedied by Cpk. Both are very similar but the latter considers the centering of a particular process distribution. It can be said that it measures the variations between the target (T) and one specification ‘“ either Cpklo or Cpkhi. The presentation will also include a brief overview of variation and basic statistics as well as individual and moving range (I-MR) control charting, both critical prerequisites to gain an advanced understanding of process capability. Areas to be Covered: Mathematical understanding of Cp/Cpk & Pp/Ppk Basic variation and statistics understanding Individual & Moving Range (I-MR) charts fundamentals Knowledge of why both Cp/Cpk & Pp/Ppk are needed Practical application of capability indices Common pitfalls and misunderstanding Who will Benefit: Design Engineers QA/QC Engineers Manufacturing Teams QA/QC Managers Process Engineers Research & Development Teams Everyone involved in specifying or interpreting customer requirements where capability indices are used. Refund Policy Webinar Compliance reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any Webinar/event due to inevitable reasons such as insufficient registrations or circumstances beyond its control. All the attendees will be notified about the cancellation of the event, 24 hours prior to the start time of the Webinar event. The cancelled Webinar, could be rescheduled and a New Date would be promptly intimated to the attendees. ![]() In such an event, the attendee can opt for one of the below: • If the New Date is not of convenience, the webinar stream (1-Time Recording) may be availed. • The attendees may also opt to take a different webinar, which has a same price tag at a future date & time; they are welcome to do so. • On-Demand recordings (Past events) in exchange but equal to the original amount remitted. • A redeemable voucher (Valid for 12 months), which could be used to purchase any of our future events. • Webinar Compliance will process refund only if an event that has been cancelled, is not rescheduled within 90 days from the original scheduled date of the webinar. • If a webinar is canceled completely, an attendee may opt either of above points 2,3,4, or a full refund of the amount paid in a single settlement.
